((INTRODUCTION: The Gods made the octogram upon their birth; it symbolizes all the balance of the world. After Danaan disappeared it was entrusted to her children, who, over time, forgot its purpose and legend. It still existed in the books written in the old tongue, but hardly any were left who knew the language. When the Octogram is threatened, it will shatter and go to its chosen owners of fate. The owners of the pieces would then be trusted to bring them together and restore it to the resting place. Upon reuniting the pieces, the Goddess of light was said to appear, or at least her light. Each of the pieces represents of the gods: Sgrios, Fiosaschd, Ceannlaidir, Gramail, Luathus, Glioca, Deoch, and Cail. Or: Decay, Wealth, Power, Order, Wisdom, Love, Creativity, and Harmony. Each possessor of the one of the pieces would have that quality above all others. For example, the person whom fate had chosen to carry the Wisdom piece, would have the greatest mind and knowledge of his kind.
To restore the Octogram, the keepers of the pieces must sacrifice their spirit to empower the shards of the Octogram to restore it to Astrid where it shall lay again for all eternity.
However, this is not an easy task. Once the Octogram has been broken, all magic power is drained from the people of the world, and the balance is lost. Chaotic storms will ravage the lands, monsters will go wild with bloodlust, and people will lose faith. The gods can do nothing but sit and watch as their children try to restore their power.))
